Sixteenth day. Mizunoe uma. ¹ Clear weather. I heard that at the Hour of the Tiger {3-5 a.m.} there was a royal visit to Hie Shrine. [The tennō] ² returned. I heard those in charge of today’s event were Director of the Ministry of Civil Affairs Sir Minamoto no Toshizane [senior second rank upper], Advisor on the Council of State Sir Minamoto no Akimichi ³ junior third rank, Controller Sir Minamoto no Yoshitoshi, ⁴ and the head of the Royal Secretariat.
