Seventh day. Kinoe tatsu. 1 Clear weather. At the Hour of the Dragon {7-9 a.m.} I went to see Denka [Fujiwara no Moromichi] but quickly withdrew. Next Ōdono [Fujiwara no Morozane] and Kita no Mandokoro [Minamoto no Reishi] were called to visit Her Majesty. They returned later in the evening. At the Hour of the Dog {7-9 p.m.} there was a fire in the servants’ (shimobe) quarters. And again at the Hour of the Sheep {1-3 PM} there was another fire. I heard that it was in the utility buildings of the Nijō mansion.. Ōdono went there and I went as well. Many people gathered to look at it. Some children were burned.

七日、甲辰きのえたつ、天晴れ。辰たつの時許殿下でんかに参る。則ち退出す。次に大殿と北政所きたまんどころ相共あいどもに参宮さんぐうせしめ給う。夜に入り帰御かんぎょす。戌いぬの時許、下辺しもべに焼亡しょぼうあり。羊の時許、又焼亡しょうぼあり。二条殿の雑屋ぞうやと云々うんうん。大殿渡らしめ給う。予又参る。人々多く参り寄す。小人こびと焼やく事なり。
